How do you cope with writer's block? With pickaxes, sledgehammers, beating my head against the wall, sweating blood--stuff like that. Basically, I bull my way through the rough spots. (Unless I'm so exhausted that I'm falling asleep on my keyboard--in which case, I'll just go to bed and expect the answer to be there in the morning. Usually it is.) Blocks are inevitable (at least they are for me), but the only way to get past them is to keep writing. The act of struggling, itself, can sometimes be a marvelous goad to creativity. I often find that the scenes I have the most trouble with, end up being the best ones in the book.
